On June 25, 2019, the York Women’s Network welcomed Leslie Gold, our first external speaker, to give her lively take on persuasive communication. Leslie has a long career in talk radio, under the moniker of the “Radio Chick,” and she provided attendees with her media-honed techniques and perspectives, particularly on how persuasion starts with storytelling. She explained that business stories should have an emotional arc, include at least one human being, and end with a controlling idea, or “moral of the story.” She also gave her insights on gender-specific communications and overcoming nerves when speaking publicly. Given the terrific feedback from attendees, we look forward to more external speakers down the road.
